Social Networking Equals Success

Posted by Jo-Anne Vandermeulen on August 25, 2010

What Are You Waiting For?

If I can conquer all obstacles so can you…remember, I did not know what a widget was 15 months ago…heck, I didn’t know what a blog was…lol. Now look where I am today…Here’s what I mean:

All in a Day’s Work

Yesterday, was amazing!

Often during interviews I’m asked: ‘What’s next for Jo-Anne Vandermeulen’?

Believe it or not, what happens tomorrow is not planned nor in my control. I merely walk down the clean path, step forward and through the wide opening, and welcome the new and totally exciting experiences.

Yesterday, two new doors opened…

The first door opened, and I walked through…

While social networking, I met Sylvia Massara from Sydney, Australia—a new published chic-lit author. The one month release of her romantic comedy novel, The Other Boyfriend, is already seeing 3 amazing 5-star Amazon reviews—a  highly recommended book definitely recommended to add to your shelf.

Agreeing to trade guest blogging, we are teaming up to be a pair to be reckoned with…lol. Mid-September, I will have Sylvia as my special guest on *Conquer All Obstacles*, and on Monday, October 4th, she will be the featured guest on Authors Articulating with Jo-Anne Vandermeulen on BTR (Blogtalkradio).

Meanwhile, Sylvia has successfully pulled her weight by publishing an article featuring me in The Lit Chick Corner.

This will have a circulation of around 7 million people combined; and around 4 million of those people are in Sydney.”

Now, talk about MASSIVE EXPOSURE!…and to a part of the world a decade ago would have been near impossible to reach. Sylvia’s voice is addicting…just read this article by clicking HERE.

Did this form of marketing cost me lots of money? No! Absolutely nothing…social networking is free. All you have to do is be proactive. Roam the world wide web and meet others, form relationships, and together—promote each others books.

The second door opened…again, I walked through…

Reaching out to other hosts on BTR, I’ve been a special guest on various shows. Yesterday, a Featured BTR Program called “The Publishing Insiders” had me as their special guest. All I had to do was reach out and ask…and as a team, we produced an amazing one hour show calledAmp Up Your Online Book Promotion.

Even last week, I discovered that the show, The Cyrus Webb I was featured on, was not only syndicated through the Internet; but also, through many U.S. FM radio stations.

Now talk about HUGE!

Opportunities are out there.  Social networking equals success. All we have to do is take the step and reap the rewards. Never have we been in such an amazing position to build our author platform, create massive exposure, and sell our books. Together, we can *conquer all obstacles*.

4 Star Inspirational

Motivation is right at your fingertips.

When life hands you lemons what do you do? When the storms of life are on your horizon do you turn and run or face them down? Many worry and struggle through situations like these; then there are those who choose to make lemonade with those lemons. In “Transformations Give up the Struggle” we find the inspiration and motivation that will not only provide us with a guide but also give us an instant source of up lifting energy.

“Transformations Give up the Struggle” is a collection of poetry, statements, verses, and thoughts centered on one theme…to inspire and motivate. At every turn in life we must face tough times. This book illustrates how we can learn, build and grow from these situations.

Change is difficult during the best of times but it is often during the rocky times of life that we must make the biggest changes. “Transformations Give up the Struggle” is a roadmap intended to help navigate us through those rocky times and enable us to make those needed changes. Change can happen and with the help and assurance within the pages of this book it can happen smoothly.

Renee Wiggins expresses the importance of positive thought throughout this book. Her desire to motivate, up-lift and inspire those in need can be felt on every page of “Transformations Give up the Struggle.” Her experience in the health and wellness field provides Renee with a unique perspective and understanding for this.

“Transformations Give up the Struggle” provides that little nudge of positive thinking that, at some time or another, we all need. I recommend this uplifting resource to anyone who must deal with hardship and/or difficulties in their life. That, in my opinion, is everyone.

Storms in life will come and go but we have, surrounding us, something positive and up-lifting to support us. This book provides multiple examples we can relate to.

Interesting & Informative Interaction Between An Astute Student and Social Media Marketer

Posted by Jo-Anne Vandermeulen on June 9, 2010

Marketer Jo-Anne Vandermeulen

Student Justin De La Merced

Researching Social Media Strategies, Student Justin De La Merced picks Marketer Jo-Anne Vandermeulen’s brains…

Enjoy!

Justin – I have utilized social media in the past before to exceed sales targets of over $6 Million. I have looked at your profile and your discussions and I would like you to know that your material is top-notch. I would love to be friends with knowledgeable individuals like you.

What were some ways that you captured your credentials using social media?

Jo-Anne – I captured my credentials using social media by showing accountability–what I know is accountable through proven evidence. The information I provide works. I’ve used it, experienced it, and will now allow others to benefit from this knowledge. I can relate to those who are marketing as I’m experiencing exactly what they are. Interaction is necessary. Not only does this build relationships; but also, I can use their comments as a guide to the direction I need to go next. A win-win…and I like that…:).

Justin – How and where do you show your accountability?

Jo-Anne – Publishing the book, Premium Promotional Tips that’s receiving many many 5-star Amazon reviews is showing accountability. But this didn’t happen overnight. Publishing, marketing, and selling my book would be like the icing on the cake.  And it doesn’t stop here. Every day, I self-educate. I  read ‘expert’s’ blogs, news articles, and basically anything I can get a hold of on the Internet that has to do with social media marketing. My schemata grows and I  prepare for change. After all, that’s what today’s technology is all about. So much better riding the wave then fighting the stream.

Founding and managing a successful promotional business, Premium Promotional Services shows accountability. Endorsements from previous clients provides a powerful statement of professionalism and success.

Exposing myself on the Internet, and providing everything I’ve learned shows accountability. Like writing an essay,  I back-up my knowledge or facts with other expert’s knowledge. I may ask them to guest blog or I may quote them with functional links back to their sites.

Here are some other ways I’ve exposed myself on the social media sites:

-         Guest blogged

-         Been interviewed

-         Provided marketing articles to be published in online magazines

-         Posted my published articles from my blog on the ‘subject’ forums in groups from social media sites

-         Answered questions or given direction – one-to-one interaction is a powerful way to gather loyal followers

-         Twittered and updated status reports about new posted articles I’ve written

-         Created and hosted pages or groups.   Diligently administer duties by monitoring the site, providing feedback, and posting fresh valuable content.

-         Invited newbies to join – All are welcome – Provide a safe community of interaction, with a sense of belonging.

-         Accepted requests – show your new friends sincere appreciation on a level ‘playing field’. Now is not the time to boast your expertise.  Show you’re human and that you can relate…even admit flaws and errors.

-         Promoted others unconditionally—asking nothing in return.

Justin’s Recommendation for Jo-Anne Vandermeulen – “In the past 2 years I have studied profusely on social media marketing. I have even utilized social media marketing strategies to exceed annual sales targets of $6 Million in retail stores. Out of all of the experts that I have studied so far, Jo-Anne is the real avant-garde in social media marketing. Her techniques are invaluable for anybody in sales & marketing that wants to reap substantive results.” >June 6, 2010<

Jo-Anne – Thank you, Justin, for this awesome recommendation. I should have also mentioned another way to capture accreditation from using the social media is to meet people like you. These recommendations, posted on social media profiles like Linkedin, are a powerful acclamation of credentiality.

So you’ve written your masterpiece. Now what? Sadly that’s where most books about writing leave off. Gladly, that’s pretty much where Jo-Anne Vandermeulen’s Premium Promotional Tips for Writers takes up.

And not just sort of.

Premium Promotional Tips for Writers offers excellent advice that (even after decades in the publishing industry) I’ve never seen anywhere else. Page after page of fantastic ideas. Heck, I found myself not just reading it to review the book, but taking notes so I could apply her secrets to my own career.

This book shows how to promote yourself, build a following, and make it big as an author.  And most of the promotional secrets not only work, but are easy to execute and quite often free.

There are a lot of good books about writing out there; this book belongs at the top of the list ahead of all the others. My advice to any author who has mastered all the basic writing skills and wants to move into top-list professional status: Read this book!

Jo-Anne Vandermeulen Interviews Author Kathy Eberly

Posted by Jo-Anne Vandermeulen on April 7, 2010

Author Kathy Eberly

Author Kathy Eberly has proven to *Conquer All Obstacles*. Welcome my special guest for this insightful interview.

About KATHY EBERLY

Kathy Eberly was born in a small town in Wisconsin and moved to Minnesota when she was a small child. She inherited her mother’s love for reading at an early age with her Dick and Jane book by inserting different names into the titles and stories. By the sixth grade she was writing short stories to entertain herself and her friends. In high school she added poetry to her repertoire during the difficult transformation from adolescence to adulthood. She has spent most of her life in the state in Minnesota although she has also resided in Illinois and Texas, briefly. Kathy raised two sons and a daughter before she met her husband Dale; who had an adult son and an adult daughter in 2006. The two were married on Superbowl Sunday in 2007. They have three beautiful grandchildren that they love to spoil on their rural Minnesota farm whenever they can.

Though Extraordinary Life Lessons from Ordinary Christian Women is her first published work, it is Kathy’s hope that you will be blessed again and again. Kathy is involved with the women’s ministry at her church.

About the book, “EXTRAORDINARY LIFE LESSONS FROM ORDINARY CHRISTIAN WOMEN”

Extraordinary Life Lessons from Ordinary Christian Women (2009)
Behind every graceful demeanor, classical beauty and impressive wisdom of a woman are untold stories of struggle, faith and redemption… Kathy Eberly brings a riveting collection of empowering stories of real women and their real lives. Through vivid narration, she takes you on a journey through reminiscence and celebration of the inward beauty possessed by different women she has met in her life. From childhood to being a mother, inspiring souls have touched her heart to see face to face the challenges life has to offer. She openly shares these poignant tales for you to be comforted, inspired and fascinated.

They come in all shapes and sizes; you encounter them every day, Extraordinary Life Lessons from Ordinary Christian Women allows you to witness the remarkable stories they have to tell.

Inspirational

Author Kathy Eberly’s Site : http://bit.ly/drQCV6

__________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________

How long have you been writing?

I have been writing short stories since I was about 12. I started writing short stories and then I began writing for my high school newspaper and also later working on work newsletters for the company I worked for.

What motivated you to write this inspirational book, “Extraordinary Life Lessons from Ordinary Christian Women: Stories of Encouragement”?

I was motivated to write Extraordinary Life Lessons from Ordinary Christian Women: Stories of Encouragement when a former high school principal died. While I was at his visitation, I had the opportunity to thank various teachers for the impact that they had on my life. I then realized that I had learned many lessons in life and I needed to tell the stories of those people who had taught them to me.

Would you say this book is only for Christian women?

Definitely not. I have found that people from many different walks of life are interested in reading this book and as a matter of fact, I have found that many men young and old are also enjoying it.

What’s next for Author Kathy Eberly?

When I am not working my “day job” which consists of caring for developmentally and mentally disabled individuals, I am currently working on a follow up book to Extraordinary Life Lessons from Ordinary Christian Women: Stories of Encouragement and am also working on a Christian romantic fiction book.

Would you like to add any closing thoughts today?

My prayer is that those who read this book might be encouraged and blessed to do whatever the Lord has for them to do no matter how large or how small it may seem.

Jo-Anne Vandermeulen Interviews Author Deborah McCarragher

Posted by Jo-Anne Vandermeulen on March 10, 2010

Author Deborah McCarragher has proven to *Conquer All Obstacles*. Welcome my special guest for this insightful interview.

Author Deborah McCarragher

About Deborah McCarragher

Deborah began her journey of creative writing soon after coming to know Jesus Christ as her personal Savoir in 1989. She uses her spiritual gifts of encouragement and teaching in her home church. She also enjoys in-depth bible study in her personal time and is a small business owner of over twenty years. Her primary goal is to share her personal testimony with others while bringing hope and practical help through her books. She and her husband reside in north Florida.

About “Mission Possible: Spiritual Covering”

Mission Possible is a unique book in the Christian marketplace.  It addresses a subject that is often overlooked and misunderstood.  It is a candid look at my struggles and quest to reach my husband for Christ.  I became a believer seven years into our marriage.  It is written as I have lived it, and applies scripture and biblical context to each chapter.   Mission Possible was nominated for Christian Small Publisher’s Assoc. Book of the Year Award for 2009.

What inspired you to craft this quite insightful volume?

I was involved with a local intercessory prayer group at the time, and was prompted by God during prayer to write down what He was conveying to me about my husband and his salvation.  It was quite literally written while inspired, and without much effort on my part.  I typed on the computer as He led me to bible verses and topics to talk about.

I remember writing down the names of the (7) chapters during prayer time on a tablet, just looking at them afterwards in awe.  It was quite a moving experience.

The book is anchored strongly in sound scriptural support. Did you perform much research prior to putting it together?

Yes I did, however, I was also fortunate to be part of an inter-denominational comprehensive bible study (BSF – Bible Study Fellowship) for seven years which gave me much of my bible study background as a new believer.  As I wrote the book, God would lead me to a verse I was familiar with, or I would read something that day that would remind me of something I had studied earlier.  Practical application was always prompted by the Lord in my prayer and devotional time.

What primary advice do you have for women who are married to “non-believing” husbands?

I think the most important advice is to have faith in Who God Is and His sovereignty.  We can’t “pre-package” our spouse’s conversion experience, and God will always do what will bring Him the “most glory”.  We also have to remember that we don’t wrestle against flesh and blood.  Our spouse (if unsaved) isn’t governed by God’s Spirit – so we have to release them from that accountability.  We must have faith that rests in God and not in our own understanding. We must not rely on what we see, but what is unseen.

Have you had the opportunity to share the book with church groups or congregations?

I have shared at my home church in ladies bible study groups and Sunday school classes briefly, but not in a large forum yet.  I plan on contacting local churches and introducing myself and my book to women’s ministry leaders this year. I want to share my personal testimony with others and bring hope and encouragement to women who are hurting and frustrated.

What kinds of reactions has the book generated thus far?

I have had great reaction to my little book.  Some women love it because it is not lengthy, and they can read it quickly - yet refer back to it over & over again.  One woman emailed me a testimony that she was nearly ready to leave her husband, but after reading the book, felt that God was leading her to give her marriage another try.  That was very humbling and gratifying for me.  I just want to help women see that there is an alternative to being miserable in an unequally yoked marriage.

What’s the main message that you’d like readers to take away from it?

I would love readers to discover that God has a plan for each marriage that is in spiritual disunity.  It involves us, but it is always done HIS WAY!  I want readers to know that it is a process that evolves over time, that we must not put God in a “box”, but give Him room to move in our spouse’s life.  They need to know that because we are not perfect and continue to sin, that Satan will try to discourage and influence us to believe that our “mission” is not possible – but with God, all things are possible!

Please share more with us about your publishing company, Alabaster Box Publishing.

I formed my company, Alabaster Box Publishing Inc. so I could self-publish my book Mission Possible.  My company’s mission is to minister to women who are married to men that don’t share their passion for Jesus.  My Mission Statement on my website says my goal is to:  ENCOURAGE women through scripture to believe in God’s Word to transform their husbands;  TEACH women, by using the principles in this book,
through mentoring and discipling, in the Lord; CHALLENGE women to “get out of their comfort zones” as they minister to their spouses as unto the Lord; and REACH women for Jesus who are searching for answers when their marriages just don’t add up . My company’s motto is “Books to stir your mind, and stretch your soul!”

What’s next for you?

I am working on another book that is completely different from my first book.  It is titled Trees of the Bible – A Spiritual Journey.  It will feature various trees in scripture and talk about their significance in the Bible.  It features their Hebrew name and their scientific designation. There is an excerpt on my website.

How can our readers learn more about you and purchase your book?

My book is available through my website at http://www.godmissionpossible.com & from several other online retailers such as Amazon and Barnes & Noble.  It can also be ordered at any Christian bookstore through Ingram.  I have my book available in (4) forms: as a trade paperback, audio book on CD, as an EBook, and as a downloadable MP-3 version.

They can visit my Blog page at http://www.godmissionpossible.blogspot.com .

Email at deb@alabasterboxpublishing.com .

Any final thoughts you’d like to share?

I’d like them to know that I understand how difficult it is to be married to a spouse who doesn’t share your love and devotion to the Lord Jesus.  I, like many of my readers, get frustrated and disillusioned, but I know God has perfect timing and our best interest at heart.  He wants our spouses to come to a saving knowledge of Him and embrace a future together that brings glory to Him.

Conquer All Obstacles: The “Just for Today” Philosophy

Posted by Jo-Anne Vandermeulen on February 11, 2010

Wayne Bisset

To *Conquer All Obstacles*, one may need to include reminders or stickies around the house.

Wayne Bisset joins me today. His guest post helps remind us that really…all we have is TODAY—a  “Just for Today” philosophy.

I have favourite slogans borrowed from a 12-step program…not a sign of weakness; merely just plain SMART. I often repeat phrases  such as “Take One Day At A Time” or “Easy Does It” or “This Too Shall Pass”.

A living program that can be implemented whether we’re involved in relationships or attempting something new. A foreign world such as cyberspace can be scary…but it doesn’t have to be.

Use the resources around to help YOU *Conquer All Obstacles*. Wayne did, and now look what he’s doing…enjoy his post (I sure did):

Conquer All Obstacles: The “Just for Today” Philosophy

By: Wayne Bisset

Just for today I will try to live through this day only, and not tackle all my problems at once. I can do something for twelve hours that would appall me if I felt that I had to keep it up for a lifetime.

Just for today I will be happy. This assumes to be true what Abraham Lincoln said, that most folks are as happy as they make up their minds to be.

Just for today I will adjust myself to what is, and not try to adjust everything to my own desires. I will take my luck as it comes, and fit myself to it.

Just for today I will try to strengthen my mind. I will study. I will learn something useful. I will not be a mental loafer. I will read something that requires effort, thought and concentration.

Just for today I will exercise my soul in three ways: I will do somebody a good turn, and not get found out; if anybody knows of it, it will not count. I will do at least two things I don’t want to do just for exercise. I will not show anyone that my feelings are hurt; they may be hurt, but today I will not show it.

Just for today I will be agreeable. I will look as well as I can, dress becomingly, keep my voice low, be courteous, criticize not one bit. I won’t find fault with anything, nor try to improve or regulate anybody but myself.

Just for today I will have a program. I may not follow it exactly, but I will have it. I will save myself from two pests: hurry and indecision.

Just for today I will have a quiet half hour all by myself and relax. During this half hour, sometime, I will try to get a better perspective of my life.

Just for today I will be unafraid. Especially I will not be afraid to enjoy what is beautiful and to believe that as I give to the world, so the world will give to me.
